1. What adapter: Ubiquiti or Netgate, but most probably Netgate for availability reasons. Planing to attend ? :)
2. What AP: do you think I need an AP for communicating without being _associated_ ? Any AP will fit, it's related to 802.11 itself, not a particular product.

1. It's just by curiosity, because I like Proxim (best RF quality) and my 8471-WD is dead this week-end (I think I have a electric problem on my laptop, it's not the first !). But, it's very difficult to buy Proxim product for a consumer (not professional) nowdays. So, your expert's vision is usefull.
2. In theory, I agree with you. But, with some wireless switch and thin AP, it doesn't seem to be so easy... I'll see that when I'll have time. I'll tell you about the results if you want.

Hummm, as long as wireless clients are listening to "From-DS" traffic coming from the BSSID, I really don't see what would prevent one to process a spoofed frame the BSSID with From-DS flag set... As everything occurs on wireless link, I really don't see how an AP, switch or whatever could block that. I'm really curious to see your results.
