peaking of conferences and trainings, I'm announced for SecurityOpus. Formerly known as InterZoneWest, this conference targeted to CISO and security professionals will take place in San Francisco, from March 19th to 23rd, at the W Hotel. I will present a talk on wireless security myths and a training... on wireless security. You can find other lectures and trainings on their website.

Regarding Cansecwest/core07, first speakers are announced. This year opus will take place in Vancouver, from April 18th to 20th, at the Mariott Renaissance Harboursider hotel, as usual. Aside of theses talks and few others to be announced soon, you can find trainings, such as my wireless security dojo on April 17th.

There's more to come, in Senegal, Singapore and France, but I don't want Nono to collapse from a heart attack, so I'll postpone the specifics to a later post...

o I'm back from Japan. For quite a while now, but I really did not find the time to write a decent post about my journey there. I was attending Pacsec/core06 IT security conference, held in Tokyo, November 29 and 30, and running my "Applied Wi-Fi (in)Security" dojo.

Japan truely amaze me, every time. So different. We landed at night in the evening and went right away to a sushi restaurant near our hotel in Shibuya. Then we spent some time in Tokyo, visiting small places we didn't come to before, then took the Shinkansen to Kyoto, city of thousand temples. Another enjoyable stay there, with lots of photos you can find online, as usual. Next time, we have to go south, in Hiroshima or Fukuoka.

Now, the conference...

ack.lu 2006, second opus of this conference held from october 19th to 21st in Luxembourg, Kirchberg plateau right in the middle of european institutions, was adverstised as a bridge between IT security world actors: researchers, students, professionals, hackers, etc. Looking at the 200 attendees, it's been the case, for our greatest pleasure.

Featuring 4 workshops, a complete Internet infrastructure security track and discussion panel with 6 experts, 17 talks, 2 lightning talks sessions and a CTF challenge, Hack.lu has been a high quality and instructive conference for most of us. Conference materials are being uploaded.

Wifitap 0.4.0 released

Wireless

ifitap is a proof of concept tool for communication over WiFi networks using traffic injection. It basically allows one to communicate over an open or WEP 802.11 network without being associated, thus bypassing any AP side restriction such as MAC address filtering or station isolation.

Wifitap 0.4.0 is out, with major changes: code cleanup, optimizations and bugfixing. It introduces source MAC address setting for emitted frames, allowing easy MAC spoofing.
